Information on Amiga computers

INTRODUCTION

I started composing electronic music at the beginning of the nineties. Except the first experiments with the Instant Music program by Electronic Arts, until almost the new millennium I have used mostly tracker programs, Protracker and OctaMED, on Commodore Amiga computers. Later, leaving the Amiga to pass to PCs, I've dedicated myself to sequencer programs.
On this page you can find most of the music which I have done in that nineties. It consists mostly of modules in Protracker (.MOD) format, and some others in MED Soundstudio (.MED) format. This modules are of relatively small size, and the ones here available don't exceed the 500 kilobytes. Actually they are for the major part so-called chip-tunes, which often don't exceed 5 KB. In order to taste this chip-tunes, I suggest you to activate the repeat/loop function of your player, as they are very short compositions, conceived to be listened repeatedly. Please note that not all players are compatible with this formats -- see below to know some suitable ones. For many tunes also the MP3 versions are available (which all exceed 1 megabyte). The MP3 versions have been lightly acoustically treated (reverberation and diminishing of the stereo separation), for a "better" listening experience.

At those times I was called, in the scene, with the alias of Stun. In the course of the years I joined some groups of creatives (musicians, graphicians, programmers, designers). Chronologically: Mystic, Biosynthetic Design, Nah-Kolor. Together with my colleagues I've done some multimedia creations (intros and demos) -- see the video section of this site. If the term demo scene is new to you, I suggest you to visit the following sites, to get an idea.

  • Demoscene.tv -- internet TV with multimedia creations (demos) from the scene
  • Nectarine -- internet radio with music from the demo scene
  • Amiga Music Preservation -- dedicated to keeping the memory alive
  • Modland -- FTP space with over 100 thousand free modules in several  formats

The broadcastings of Nectarine and Demoscene.tv are also available in the streaming media section of the Winamp 5 media player.

IMPORTANT: It may happen that some particular module won't be played well by your player, even though it is stated that it is compatible with MOD and/or MED formats.
I've tested my tunes (recently only on PC) with the following players: Winamp 5, Modplug Player, Deliplayer 2 and XMPlay. Unfortunately I've seen that none of these, taken separately, are able to correctly reproduce all of my modules.
Some indications (only for PC users, as I'm not up-to-date regarding Amiga programs):

  • For MOD files all of the above mentioned players should work fine, except with the tune "World Record", for which Deliplayer 2 is suggested. If you see that the playing time of this tune is much less than a minute, this means that it doesn't get played correctly. For experts: this module requires CIA timing.
  • For MED files I recommend Modplug Player and XMPlay (with extra modplug plug-in) for the tunes "Chippawa" and "Iridescent", whereas for the tunes "Glow-worms" and "First Steps On A Virgin Planet" I recommend Deliplayer 2. "Current Generator" doesn't get played correctly by none of the mentioned players -- I suggest the MP3 version or the original Octamed program.
  • For MP3 files any compatible player should work fine.

Download instructions:
Choose the title and the format to download, right-click on V and select "save target as", then select the folder on your hard disk where to download the file. This procedure may vary for different web browsers.
The MOD and MED files are inside ZIP archives, and it is necessary to decompress them for listening.
By positioning the mouse pointer over the chosen V symbol, you can display the file size.

Please report any broken links and any malfunctions on this page.

EXTRA

There's a module which I didn't make with Commodore Amiga, but still with a tracker program (Fasttracker 2 on PC) during the nineties, in collaboration with Parsec: Symbiosi (I did the chords, then Parsec added the drums and the bass)

On this site are available also some multimedia creations (called intros and demos), done with Amiga computers. You can find the original Amiga executables, ADF files for WinUAE Amiga emulator, and video recordings to display on other systems (PC, Mac, ...). Visit my video section to get them.
