Thomas Becker's music. Electronic, new age, chill-out, ambient, trance, ...

Thomas Becker's music done with Commodore Amiga 500 (many styles)
Download for free the music which I have created with this Commodore computer, during the nineties

I compose music since year 1991, and make available for listening more than 100 tunes, in various genres -- all characterized by a predominant use of electronic instruments.
I cite some genres, just to give the idea of variety: new age, trance, ambient, jazz, classical, techno, metal, funky.

I think I've been influenced, among others, by artists such as Vangelis, Mike Oldfield, Jean-Michel Jarre, Alan Parsons Project, Enya, Decoryah, Enigma, Astral Projection, Antonio Vivaldi, Kit Watkins, artists from the Em:t label, artists from the Amiga scene. In addition, even though it may not seem, my adolescence (and further on) has been much oriented towards metal in many of its forms. But later I felt like widening my horizons, and started to listen all-round (discovering a lot of beautiful things).

In my tunes find space mostly synthesizers, samplers and effects, all electronic, which I control with computer and specific programs. I also insert electric or classical guitar parts, instruments which I play since about fifteen years (mostly the electric one).

My compositions are mostly instrumental, but starting from 2003 I began realizing also songs, I mean music with vocals. In that year began the Air Movers project, featuring me, the Polish Piotr Kokoszczynski (ex Farbenlehre) and the Italian Piero Ferrara, making electronic-pop-rock music (with some psychedelic veins), with the voice of Piero.
In addition, I collaborated as arranger with the singer and songwriter Agostino Furno, also through the internet. For both projects are available songs for free download.

Many of my solo tunes are available (in MP3 format) for free download on my online music archive... I invite you to make a visit and listen to something!
In the Amiga music section of this present site are furthermore available many of my first compositions in MOD, MED and MP3 format, done with tracker programs on a Commodore Amiga 500 computer. Since the beginning of 2009 some of my tunes are available as paid downloads on many online music stores.

Please note that the fact that I define much of my music as new age, doesn't mean that I'm particularly inclined towards this philosophy (or group of philosophies and life-styles). I use this word simply because I've got the impression that many of my compositions are stylistically similar to those which are defined like this.

I invite you also, if you wish, to not be necessarily bound to the titles which I gave to my tunes; they are in fact intended only as labels and as listening suggestions, which I think usually at the end of the compositional process to make the pieces more easily recognizable. It's not my habit to work with imagination during musical listening, but I usually remain quite anchored to the sonic unwinding. The titles I choose though often by way of what the finished tunes inspire me, so I believe that also the one who will prefer to follow my visionary indications will find fertile soil.
There are though some tunes conceived right from the start to evoke certain sensations and images (e.g. my "Sand Everywhere", with which I want to evoke a deserted landscape).

I would like much to know your listening impressions, and what you think of my tunes (contact me).

If you want to know my musical history, my biography is available on this site.

Steps
Instrumental / Experimental / Electronic / New Age
11 April 2005, www.hitclick.net

Whoa. I was definitely surprised to hear this track. You can never really expect the kind of artistry you hear in this song from most people. "Steps", with its masterfully melodic guitar arrangements, well laid keyboard synth sounds, and beautiful cadence, will definitely take you to one epic place. And I was expecting your run-of-the-mill home made house electronica, for some reason. It's like taking a sip out of a glass expecting Boone's and getting Shiraz. It's almost like there's a movie scene out there missing its soundtrack.
The instrumentation in this song is mainly a classical guitar, background synth sounds, an occasional flute (well done flute, that is), and a veeeery, very brief intermission of drums and percussion. The rhythm and the timing on this piece are perfect -- absolutely great changes and resolutions. Also, the length of this track definitely makes it listenable; even for folks who are fans of the harder stuff. Seriously -- my compliments to Becker on a fine piece of work. Everything develops in this song rather nicely. Almost in ... well ... steps, I guess. Yeah, that's it. Steps.
Oh -- okay, I get it.

Thomas Becker, a new age, progressive electronic, trance, ambient, drum 'n' bass, space jazz, ethnic musician out of Milano, Italy (how's *that* for keywords, Avallon?) started taking piano lessons at 10 years old. Active on the internet scene since before any of you can remember (unless BBS-es were your thing back in the late eighties and early nineties), Thomas' approach, skills, mindset (and equipment) have evolved over the past decade into something of a multifaceted creator/performer of many genres and the fusion in between. In fact, his musical catalog has been quite busy over these past years -- with over 100,000 downloads and getting busier all the time. Currently, his catalog has over 90 free tracks for your listening enjoyment. So let me wrap this up, because it looks like you all have work to do.

This track is definitely recommended for fans of Steve Roach, Ray Lynch, instrumentals and movie tracks in general. "Steps" is definitely going in my morning playlist for when I'm doing my yoga ... er ... I mean push ups and free weights ... in the morning.

Now get over there and do some downloading.
